Seeing the Good in Quarantine
To see the negatives in our current pandemic is easy. Whether it is missing loved ones, canceling fun events, or simply giving up your weekly routine, we are all sacrificing something during this pandemic. But that doesn’t mean that there is only bad in it. Finally, there is an opportunity to slow things down. Take that afternoon nap in the sun, finish that book you’ve had on your night stand for too long, and have that family game night that always gets kicked to the curb. Here are some negative things that we turned positive so you can make the most of your quarantine.
No Gym – No Problem
This is a great opportunity to spice up your workout routine. Get creative and look up home workouts to try. There are a number of online streaming services that are doing fun fitness classes and even yoga classes. You can also do a quick search on YouTube. Didn’t have time for the gym before? Well there’s no excuses now! Get the whole family involved and make exercise fun.
Kids are out of school – More family time!
The kids are home from school, you are working from home, and everyone is driving each other nuts. Instead, see this time as an opportunity to excel with schoolwork, and hold family game night over the weekends. Cook dinner together and try something new that everyone will love.
Miss socializing with friends – Spend time on yourself instead
This is the perfect time to focus on you. Sure you’re missing people, but now is a great time to catch up on some self-care. Read a book, take a bath, meditate, pick up a new hobby or start a new one. With an excuse to stay home and chill every day, there’s no need to explain yourself when it comes to some needed me-time.
Life is put on pause – Use the time to get ahead
This pandemic may have gotten in the way of your big promotion or put a hold on the next career step you had just decided to take. That doesn’t mean this time has to be a set-back. Use it as an opportunity to get ahead and brainstorm new ideas to bring back to work. Learn a new skill that is going to help you advance in your career or open your eyes to a new path. Or you can simply use this time to relax and refresh yourself so you can go back to work sharper and better than ever.
In these challenging times, we all have had to give things up. Like everything in life, it is what you make of it. Perspective changes everything.
