Dr. Marcela McDonald

Dr. Marcela Argeles McDonald has always been interested in the arts and sciences. As an undergraduate, she received a Bachelor’s degree in music performance from the famed Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and continued her training with a Master in Music from Indiana University. After several years of teaching and performing she decided to follow her heart into the field of medicine. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. McDonald has been in private practice in Northern Virginia since finishing her residency and is a board-certified OB/GYN through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  She is a Da Vinci certified robotic surgeon and a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.

Dr. McDonald is thrilled about relocating to Maryland to join the talented physicians of Capital Women’s Care Howard County.  Her passion is education and she loves helping all women understand their health from teenagers to pregnant moms to those in the peri and postmenopausal stages of their lives.  Her special interests are obstetrics, adolescent gynecology, health maintenance, and minimally invasive gynecology.  Of note, she is a native Spanish speaker and has a particular interest in meeting the health needs of the Hispanic community.

In her free time, Dr. McDonald enjoys spending time with her two children, husband, and extended family living in Maryland. She also loves music, reading, and travel.
