Dr. Melanie McDowell

When it comes to routine gynecological care, contraception, and minimally invasive surgery, you need to feel comfortable with your practitioner. With her extensive training and caring bedside manner, Melanie McDowell, MD, FACOG, is known for treating women through their reproductive years and beyond. Dr. McDowell cares for patients at the practice of Capital Women’s Care in Fulton, Maryland.

After earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, Dr. McDowell finished her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She soon relocated to Baltimore to go through her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

While Dr. McDowell cares for patients of all ages, with all kinds of concerns, she takes a special interest in family planning and contraception management. Dr. McDowell spends time focusing on preventive medicine and educating her patients. She also has specialized training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

When Dr. McDowell isn’t busy caring for patients, she likes spending time with her husband and two young boys. She enjoys reading and cooking as much as possible. Dr. McDowell welcomes new patients who need to be established with an OB/GYN or who have an urgent gynecologic concern.
